Sipwise has been leading the way in the VoIP industry for some time by introducing innovative features to their systems. Not resting on our laurels, we have been busy and implemented several enhancements and new features into our Next Generation Communications Platform (NGCP). We also added more capabilities to our roadmap demanded by many clients.
Sipwise developed platform enhancements.
Among the accomplished enhancements for the Sipwise platform is the Announcement Before Call Recording feature. Now, it is possible to play an announcement to a caller as a notification that the call will be recorded. This will give the caller an option on whether to continue the call or not prior to being connected to the called party.
Another feature that has been improved is the Customizable Greetings. This allows the called party to provide a personalized greeting to welcome their callers. This can also serve as an alert if the company is closed for the holidays, special service announcements, or for advertisements.
The Cloud Edition business phone models of ALE (Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise) have also been fully integrated into Sipwise’s CPBX. Automated device provisioning and configuration of phone functions are now supported for ALE CE phones as well.
Sipwise roadmap is feature-rich.
For the recent roadmap, there are several features that have been added to enhance the capabilities of the Sipwise platform.
One of these is the Web GUI Role-based Access. This will introduce a fine-grained, role-based model to access the administrator web interface of the C5 softswitch. This would mean that certain features are only accessible to an assigned role, such as system administrator, reseller administrator and customer support. Thus, making sure that only the people who should configure certain functions of the switch can do so.
Another feature on the Sipwise roadmap is the support for external authentication. With this, an external directory server can be integrated for user authentication and authorization. The C5 will be connected to LDAP or any other authentication server to check user credentials of the admin users.
DID Number management and new Free Time Billing model are also on the roadmap. The former is planned to improve the management capabilities of phone numbers that are assigned to a soft switch (C5) operator via the REST API. Extensions can then be easily assigned, revoked and reserved for future use. The new Free Time Billing model will make the monthly free time possible to assign to on- or off-peak billing periods, or both.
Several configuration capabilities of the Customer Self-Care Panel (CSC) is also currently being developed, such as Call Forwards, Fax Server configuration, Manager-Secretary configuration, Auto-Attendant configuration, Call-Queue, and Sound Set Management.
Last, but certainly not the least, Sipwise is aiming to have two integrated solutions (initiated by ALE-Sipwise common development strategy) available by the end of 2019.
The first one is the CSTA Improvements which will provide advanced telephony scenarios using a third-party computer-supported telecommunications application (CSTA). This will include Forward scenario, Call Deflection scenario, Consultation Call, Blind Transfer, Transfer Call (Two-Step Transfer), Call merge and In-Service/Out-of-Service device events.
The second initiative is the basic Call Centre Solution on top of Sipwise C5 soft switch. This is the integration of the ALE Operator Console with Sipwise’s NGCP which allows a call-centre operator to send incoming calls to call-centre groups, conference rooms, or to answer the call. Expected in mr 8.1 software release of Sipwise C5.
